Vigilia Mantenernos Despiertos Para Su Venida (ENG: Vigil: Keeping Us Awake for His Coming) is an event that occurred in the congregation Iglesia de Cristo Ebenezer Monroe. With collaboration of 5 churches, 200+ people gathered together for a night of experiences and revival.
As an annual event, the vigil purpose is to break the common routine of weekly services to a surpassing the night and aiming toward sunrise as a group of people gather in a space of worship and praise.
I was contacted to design the brand and the promotional products to publish into the digital world.
With the name of the event established, it was much easier to figure out the logo of the event. As the name suggests, the main focus of a vigil is "keep a period of awake". Thanks to that information I was able to narrow down icons and things that resonate with staying awake.
I wanted to keep the branding easy and clear. The design should stand out from a far without having the difficulty of wasting too much time.
These branding designs are examples of the inspiration that I embarked to produce the branding behind the event.
One of the icons that came to mind when relating to the act of being awake is the eyes. Since the whole event happened during a time that would have people sleep, the eye icon was the perfect option to follow.
In this diagram, the logo is broken down. The arrow represnts the eye, the second arrow represents the gesture of attention, and finally when combined, the creation of the logo for the event.
Another factor that contributes to the emotion and aesthetic is color. The color of the design matters. Since the event revolves around staying up, I chose navy blue, yellow, and white as the 3 colors. The navy blue representing the night, the yellow representing attentive (staying awake), and the white representing the atmosphere.
This project resulted in the creation of a brochure for the pastors to obtain so that there can be no misunderstanding or missing information that they may have had till the day of the event. The creation of the flyers that was used for promotion and the publication in the social media platforms, a display presentation that was used to promote the event in the congregation, thumbnails that were used in the live streams on platforms Youtube and Facebook, a sticker used for the Stories on the social media platforms, 3 carousels of sections of the event toward the social media platforms, lower thirds animations that were used in the live streams, a GIF animation of the display presentation, and a video that provided a overall summary of what occurred during the event with audio from the preachers and music in the background.
